Dental Philosophy
Clinically, we believe that prevention is more important than the cure when it comes to dental disease. In today's modern society, too many health issues arise and too many teeth are being lost to poor dental oral hygiene. In our practices, we believe in ACTIVE MAINTENANCE.
Active Maintenance speaks of the parts that we feel you, the patient, and us, the dental team, have to play in order to maintain the health of not only your teeth, but of your gums, oral mucosa and jaw bone. in order to have "Good Teeth" we must work together in actively maintaining every aspect of our Oral Health.
Social
Healthy Smile Dental is not marketed or geared to any one population demographic. Rather, we believe that our practices are for everyone. Priding ourselves in treating the WHOLE family, we love to treat kids, married couples, single students and the elderly all alike. Our treatment philosophy takes on a holistic approach which embraces the needs of each individual.
Patients will definitely not be 'sold' a particular treatment based on pre-determined "what we think they SHOULD have", but will be given the opportunity to decide for themselves the best course of treatment based around what they NEED.
Community Focus
Is Dentistry just a business? Definitely not! As Healthy Smile Dental continues to grow and become more established, we want to build bridges into our surrounding communities. As respected members of the health community, we see it as our responsibility and privilege to contribute into the development of our patients. Patients who are ultimately the core of everything Healthy Smile Dental stands for. Because of this, we will always be looking for opportunities to be involved with the lives of our patients and will always welcome suggestions for our support.
History
The idea of Healthy Smile Dental was first conceived by founding Director Dr Stephen Wong in late 2003. Having worked in both private and public practice, Stephen recognised that there was a need for more private dental practices in the expanding southern suburbs of Brisbane.
Having worked with Dr Julian Mok in both public and private practice, Stephen realised that with the help of Julian, Healthy Smile would not just be a dream, but could be a reality. After much hard work, Healthy Smile Dental opened in the suburb of Calamvale in late 2004.
Since then, the team has been working hard to bring the practice to where it is today. With the success of the Calamvale practice, Stephen and Julian decided to open their second practice in Underwood.
